Since 1926 a monument in honour of former mayor of Vienna and noted anti-Semite Dr. Karl Lueger has occupied a prominent site in the middle of the city’s first district. This monument is symptomatic of the way in which the history of anti-Semitism and racism is dealt with in Austria. Since spring 2009 we have been working as a pressure group towards changing the Lueger monument into a monument against anti-Semitism and racism. In order to emphasise the importance of our concern we organized an international Open Call.
