Description

Which story is worth telling? In 1945, the Piatti family's property, including the hidden porcelain collection in Loosdorf, was destroyed. The remains of the collection were compiled into a spatial narrative. From now on, the Scherbenzimmer will be a reminder of the loss and a warning against war and destruction. What value is expressed through this narrative? Destruction holds the potential for renegotiation. The fractures of the shards make it possible to give space to new stories. The destruction of a porcelain object was repeated in order to visualize the renewed destruction of the narrative that existed as a room of broken pieces and to make many stories out of one. The vase and its history, glued and incomplete, appears for the last time these days. The individual shards are then separated from each other during an auction.
