Nika Kupyrova’s 2018 project No More Mr Nice Guy is inspired by a series of sci-fi novels by Ian M. Banks, written between 1987 and 2012. The Culture is set in a post-scarcity human-machine symbiotic society, populated by genetically altered humans and intelligent machines. Now, in the year 2023, with new takes and updates on Artificial Intelligence, the following conversation revisits Kupyrova’s project regarding utopian fictions informed by technologically advanced societies, as well as the ethics of word-building in symbiosis between humans and machines.
