The proposed series seeks out new perspectives on experimental film and artists’ moving image. It is based, firstly, on a desire to question categories and interrogate crossovers and spaces between – between ‘experimental’ and ‘artists’ film’, and between ‘experimental’ and ‘art cinema’, exemplified by the essay film and forms of experimental narrative. It recognizes different traditions and trajectories but also seeks to explore the fluid boundaries between them. In a similar way, it aims to open up historical perspectives that explore the past through the present and the present through the past.
