Text

This is an indoor immersive multi-sensory experience that invites you to step into the cave of crows. Drawing on Plato's Allegory of the Cave, The Cave is a multi-species approach to enabling an ontological turn in audience’s perception. The soundscape, composed of 62 field recordings from Qingyu’s one-month tracing in Vienna, is complemented by 8 hidden speakers, layered gauze screens and multiple projections, forming a multi-dimensional immersive environment. Participants will be surrounded by and interact with the crows, shifting between observer and participant roles under the guidance of the soundscape with subtle visual augmentations. The narrative follows the crows through various stages—solitary calls, communal choruses, flocking behaviors, intimate conversations, and finally, sleep. Conducted in darkness to emphasize auditory perception, this experience provides a unique opportunity to break stereotypes and unveil the mysterious and endearing world of crows.
