Sometimes the translation of a text in a particular language develops a life of its own. This is true for the highly influential writings of Monique Wittig, whose language-inventive terminology is both a challenge and a promise for readers and translators. Pronouns, annotations, polyphonic reading, political impact, collective poetics, new movements. [English, German, French]Sprache: Englisch, außerdem Deutsch, und womöglich etwas Französisch in unterschiedlicher Gewichtung. LAB_3.5: Samstag, 15.04.2023, 10:30 bis 13:00 Uhr und 14:00 bis 16:00 Uhr Lyrik-Dolmetschen: Poesieübersetzung und Mündlichkeit Ein Workshop mit Irina Bondas und Theresia Prammer. How can orality enrich the process of collective translation? This workshop focuses on the oral, the simultaneity and polyphony of "poetry dolmetching". We are not afraid to enter the paths of poetic thinking through the acoustic canal while respecting the craft of interpretation. [Mostly German, some Italian, Russian, Ukrainian, French, English] LAB_3.6: Samstag, 15.04.2023, 10:30 bis 13:00 Uhr und 14:00 bis 16:00 Uhr VOICE WORK – Dubbing, Passing, Code Switching Workshop with Kerstin Honeit, Emil Huppenkothen und Valerie Prinz Who speaks whom? Which class differences are inscribed in the language and how does that sound? The voice does hard work, on a number of fields: in translating dialect into standard language, in dubbing into a specific class language, in voice lending, voice drag, all forms of PASSING and code switching between competing paradigms. “I will not work, says the strike, says the voice as strike. Not in the world that is; not for the world that is. Something else is possible.” (B. Liberatore) LAB_3.7: Samstag, 15.04.2023, 16:30 Uhr ASSEMBLAGE – VERSAMMLUNG – WIEDERVORLAGE Drei Gespräche auf dem Rückweg zum Vormittag. [English] LAB_3.9: Sonntag, 16.04.2023, 11:00 Uhr TRANSLATING SPACE Paneldiscussion with Gabu Heindl, Edit Kaldor and Raul Walch. Moderated by Matthias Seier. [Setzung und Übersetzung!] What kind of dramaturgy enables us to experience theatre as social space? To what extent are power relations reflected in the public sphere? Does the notion of translation help to analyze those relations (at all)? [English, German] Preceding the Panel: Coffee and Croissants at 10:30 am. LAB_3.10: Sonntag 16.04.2023, 14:00 Uhr PASSING: Schlussvortrag von Cécile Wajsbrot How do I translate the historical context embedded in a literary work? Is there a specific present of the language of translation? What forms of actualization and historicization are at work here? What kind of political, historical, contradictory, social, lingual passage takes place in translation? The text is there, the translation is yet to be done.
