In this seminar we will be looking at antiracist and feminist film and media works from the fields of art, cinema and activism past and present. We will analyse – individually, together, and in groups – how our viewpoints are shaped (in part) by our own history and positionedness within society, and how this knowledge can help us develop a critical visual idiom and position. Using feminist and antiracist critiques of representation, we will define criteria for modes of looking at, discussing and producing things during the seminar. On this basis, you will develop your individual and/or collective artistic projects. We will work with small exercises, practical and theoretical approaches, and paradoxical interventions. Guest artists and filmmakers will show their works and answer questions.

In a one-day camera workshop with Lena Krenz (Director of Photography, Berlin, see Termine) you will learn about camera aesthetics and techniques and experiment with them.

The seminar will be conducted in a gender-aware manner and (if necessary) we will use languages other than the hegemonic German and English. Your criticisms and suggestions will flow into the way the seminar is conducted. In the presentation your projects will be discussed. In the KKP forum dedicated to processes of pedagogy and community building students and lecturers of different KKP seminars come together.

The class will take place on Fridays. Exception: KKP Forum on Tuesday, 1 December. The final date for the camera workshop with Lena Krenz is yet to be defined , please reserve all 3 dates for it. (Regular sessions from 11:00 to 14:30; workshops, exercises and presentations from 11:00 to 18:00. Examination Modalities

Regular and critical participation. 
Development and presentation of a film project.
(Upload of the film 4 days before the presentation).
Participation in the camera workshop, in presentations of fellow students and in Forum KKP (see Termine).

Abschluss-Projektseminar der IT-Phase.

Wird in diesem Studienfach eine künstlerische Bachelorarbeit erstellt, wird das künstlerische Projektseminar zum künstlerischen Bachelorseminar - das künstlerische Projektseminar ist dann nicht zusätzlich zu absolvieren. Der Mehraufwand von 2 ECTS für die Bachelorarbeit selbst wird im Studienabschluss in der Studienplananalyse unter 010.40 verbucht.
