Description
OH, FOR MATERIAL'S SAKE! Studies of analogue matter
In the summer semester 2025, we will develop the concept and content for an exhibition in the group as part of the course, which will take place in November 2025 as part of the Rotlicht Festival from 21.11. - 30.11. The basics of analog photography - the light-sensitive materials and the associated chemical processes - represent the starting point for the investigations in order to explore the materiality of the analog as a specific characteristic of the medium and to question it productively and critically. Initial keywords for the direction of the content are materiality, process, manipulation and investigation. Theoretical and practical input, such as a workshop with a renowned Swiss specialist in photo restoration, will be used to develop projects that will subsequently be realized in the workshop.
PARTICIPATION CRITERIA
- Letter of motivation
To participate in the course, a letter of motivation is required, which must be sent by email to the workshop fotowerkstatt.analog@uni-ak.ac.at by 21.03.2025 (= end of registration window in the base). Places will be allocated on the basis of the letters.
- Active, committed and reliable participation in the course with the aim of completing your own work for the exhibition.
Examination Modalities

Comments
Limited number of participants!
To participate in the course, it is necessary to register for Claudia Rohrauer's course S04718 of the same name in order to receive 2 ECTS!
Advanced knowledge of analogue laboratory practice (film processing, positive processing) is a prerequisite for participation in the course as well as attendance at the 1st meeting.
An unconditional time commitment is necessary - therefore the course is not suitable for students who will be absent in the winter semester.
