Description
The SoundArtLab (SAL) in the DIGITAL ART department works with the spatial quality of sound-based elements. Sound-based elements of space refer to sound as a space-based event (O'Callaghan,2010), sound effects as spatially defined interactions of sound waves with spatial objects (Augoyard & Torgue,2019), and sound atmospheres(Schmitz, 2020). Using artistic productions and the method of ‘architectural listening’ (Kirisits, 2025), strategies are developed to access these architectural elements. In addition to a 2-channel studio system, the SoundArtLab_Ambisonic has a 20-channel Ambisonic system at its disposal. The Ambisonic format used enables the resulting spatial works to be reproduced on different loudspeaker configurations in installation situations or headphones (binaural). The Dante network allows all rooms in the PSK to be acoustically connected to the SoundArtLAb (SAL).

Im SoundArtLab_Ambisonic steht, zusätzlich zu einer 2 Kanal Studio-Anlage, eine 20 Kanal Ambisonic-Anlage zur Verfügung. Durch das verwendete Ambisonic Format wird ermöglicht, dass die entstandenen räumlichen Arbeiten auf unterschiedliche Lautsprecherkonfigurationen in installativen Situationen oder Kopfhörern (binaural) wiedergegeben werden können. Durch das Dante Netzwerk lassen sich alle Räume in der PSK mit dem SoundArtLab akustisch verbinden.
