Description
The SoundArtLab_Ambisonic of the DIGITAL ART department works with sound as a spatial sculptural element. Audio-based elements of space are understood as sound as a spatial event, sound effects as spatially defined interactions of sound waves with architectural objects and sound atmospheres. Based on artistic productions, strategies are developed to gain access to this architectural, spatial material.
In the SoundArtLab_Ambisonic, a 16-channel Ambisonic system is available in addition to a 2-channel studio system. The workflow in the studio was designed in such a way that recordings with Ambisonic microphones (3d Sound Field Recording) can be mixed with one-channel recordings that are spatially placed in the lab to create a joint acoustic-spatial situation. The Ambisonic format used enables the resulting spatial works to be reproduced on different loudspeaker configurations and installation situations.
