Description

As part of the installation CONCEPTION OF SŸS – The Smell of a Mythological Being, a 4th grade class from a Viennese primary school visited the AIL Art Cabin in the former Postsparkasse. The workshop was embedded directly in the exhibition setting and combined guided exploration with active participation. The pupils were introduced to the central question of the installation: Imagine a being that knows and feels everything about connectedness and interactions. How would it smell? They experienced all six scent compositions developed for the project and each child cast an individual vote. The voting process made them part of the ongoing international survey that had previously been conducted in Vienna, Porto, Bangkok, Songkhla and Boston. After the olfactory exploration, the children were invited to draw their own interpretation of SŸS - the imagined being embodying systems awareness. The drawings revealed diverse associations: some imagined friendly, nature-like creatures, others abstract figures or hybrid beings combining human, animal, and environmental elements. #SLS #SENSING LIVING SYSTEMS #FWFPEEKProjekt #MUELLER-DIVJAK Jeanette Müller, Paul Divjak, Alexandra Graupner, Anna-Maria Irgang
