Description

'A Speculative Architecture for Vienna' shows work by Studio Hani Rashid for Heldenplatz in Vienna Team: Jose Lopez Cervantes, Sophie Grell, Eldine Heep, Sophie Luger, Andrea Tenpenny While in other parts of the world - primarily the West Coast of the USA and large parts of Asia - we can witness a widespread, euphoric view of the future - also based on the potentialities of digital revolution - what we are experiencing in Europe as a whole and in Austria in particular is a very reserved approach towards the future. This has resulted in skepticism towards technology and science. However, right now would be the right time to face those grand societal challenges and approach them with optimism, in order to build and shape the years ahead rather than yield to complacency and a sort of romanticism and fear of change. Studio Hani Rashid, Institute of Architecture at the University of Applied Arts Vienna, is engaged with developing places inviting the public to further advance ideas and visions for the future. The project offers a combination of agora and library of ideas, space for presentation and interaction.
