CACTUSGARDEN The installation CACTUSGARDEN transports visitors into a captivating world where the beauty and diversity of cacti take center stage. Inspired by the aesthetics of manicured front yards, this installation offers a unique interpretation by featuring five different cactus species: the well-known mexican and south-western american Saguaro, Nopal Cactus and the Cephalocereus senilis, the Gymnocalycium mihanovichii, which can be found in a lot of homes in a cultivated, grafted form and the Tumbleweed (dt. Steppenhexe), which is associated broadly with wastelands and deserts through the genre of western movies. High Five - The collection in motion Luminous color experiments by Rupprecht Geiger, a hypnotic video sculpture by Raphaela Vogel, spherical ambient music by Joseph Beuys, humorous conceptual art by Gerrit Frohne-Brinkmann, the iconic Electric Chairs series by Andy Warhol - the Städtische Sammlung Erlangen is all this and much more. A unique history of ideas in art since the 1960s. A rollercoaster of emotions. A surprising journey of experience and insight for the head, heart and stomach. With High Five, the Kunstpalais invites visitors to new encounters with the Städtische Sammlung Erlangen, as this exhibition is designed for movement: The hanging will be repeatedly and excitingly changed during the exhibition. In smaller and larger conversions, works of art are added, exchanged, regrouped and even entire rooms are filled with installations, for example by Mary-Audrey Ramirez, Böhler & Orendt, Gerrit Frohne-Brinkmann, Verena Issel and Claudia Holzinger. True to the concept, not all 60 artists are represented in the exhibition right from the start - a good reason to keep coming back. On the occasion of our proclaimed celebration, we are setting off a firework of events for High Five right from the start - we are looking forward to your visit to two concerts at the opening, talks with artists, yoga in the exhibition, new workshops for children, teenagers and adults, readings, guided tours in many different languages, dance workshops and much more. High Five is an exhibition to get to know, fall in love with and rediscover again and again. Celebrate with us!
