Text

2005, Media Art as a Form of Therapy, Kunsthof 16 (AT). In this project an attempt was made to think about digital art as a form of art therapy. Art projects were developed and their therapeutic potential was tested on site (Otto Wagner Spital, 2.psych.Abt., Pav. 16). Since the form and the possibilities of the interactions are strongly dependent on the respective clinical picture, the individual works were set up on different wards. This resulted in approaches that can also be distinguished according to their treatment of the place. Works that dealt with the concrete space, such as Gordon Savicic's Music for Staircase, Media-Mnese by Julia Staudach or Fadeout/ Fadein by Martina Chmelarz_Nicolaj Kirisits and works that were independent of the concrete place, such as Hapti2000 by Bernhard Bauch and Florian Waldner, Farbmischer by Anna Haber, Roman Vogel and Francesco Prijapretama, Beruhigungstriebwerk by Tom Enzi and dilocated toybox by Milos Paripovic and Marcus Saravia. A special case is the work Boxen by Kathrin Dörfler and Christoph Schwarz, which, although not related to a specific spatial situation, was nevertheless site-bound due to its construction and could not be rearranged. The finished works could be used by the patients.
