Text

2013, Finalization 2003, competition, alte Busgarage, 1st prize together with architect DI Günter Lautner photos : Sophia Wiegele The basis for this design was the urban planning competition Alte Busgarage in Vienna, won by Laki Architects. The special task of this competition was to find solutions for living on the ground floor with front gardens. Three-story duplexes were developed on the ground floor, with a studio space in the basement overlooking the private garden in the sunken garden. On the first floor there is a courtyard-side private garden and a balcony facing the street and the sunken garden from above, and on the upper floor there is a street-side pergola and a balcony. A differentiated design between private and public of the outdoor spaces of the apartment instead of a poorly usable "distance green" to the street. was the idea of this concept. The entire building consists of 8 staircases, swimming pool and subsequent facilities on the roof and a garage with natural lighting through the openings planned for the solitary trees, which are planted recessed in the courtyard at the level of the garage. Each apartment has an outdoor area, half of which is a loggia and half a balcony, so that on all floors can be distinguished between private and public.
