The photo series documents my approach to Argentinian culture and deals with the pivotal issue of football. In Argentina, football is the link that holds society together. Similar to the American Dream, in the country of Maradona and Messi, football is seen as a way to rise from simple circumstances to the top of society. Argentina is a country where the pure happiness of victory and the boundless disappointment of defeat are as close as the skyscrapers of the wealthy and the corrugated iron shacks of the poor. The title "La Vida es una Tombola" comes from a popular song by the band Manu Ciao vocalising the philosophy of Argentinian people.
