Beschreibung

ERASMUS+ KA2 Programme project 'Rural 3.0: Service Learning for the Rural Development (RURASL)' https://oead.at/de/aktuelles/artikel/2018/08/erfolg-fuer-oesterreich-bei-den-erasmus-wissensallianzen/ The project Rural 3.0: Service Learning for the Rural Development will address the needs of the rural communities, creating community-university partnerships as part of the virtual Rural 3.0 Hub with a broad network of stakeholders, including academic and rural communities. Rural 3.0 will set a framework for an integrated transnational approach of academic teaching and learning that contributes to the development of rural areas, meeting their needs through an innovative methodology. Academic students will engage in service learning in rural communities, with appropriate educational contents and tools that promote education that improves lives of people in rural areas and their communities. The project will build on knowledge of existing service learning models to support their rural implementation through active collaboration between universities and rural community partners. The goals of the Rural 3.0 project are to: • help develop the core skills and entrepreneurial capabilities of the rural community (for which such development is not easily accessible) • improve the quality of education for a sustainable development and promote university-community partnerships in the rural areas through the innovative service-learning methodology • increase the relevance of universities as their students aim to fulfil a service that is in line with the demands of the businesses and social needs in rural areas Specifically, the project aims to: • discover if rural communities get access to services that students can provide • understand the extent to which service learning (SL) occurs in rural areas and, if it does occur, how effective it is • establish a structure of rural service learning education shared and developed by the international HEIs and rural partners • promote education that improves lives of people in rural areas and their communities • strengthen the skills and the innovative capacity of adult rural social entrepreneurs (SE) • provide practical SL and SE experiences to students in the specific rural settings • facilitate development of the core skills and rural SE amongst high potential rural community in a sustainable, ecologically, and socially sound way The ENRD already brings together many stakeholders aiming to achieve improved rural development results in the EU. Therefore, it would be an ideal platform for the Rural 3.0 virtual hub to connect to, since both ENRD and Rural 3.0 seek to improve the rural development, while Rural 3.0 has an additional group of stakeholders (universities, their faculty and students) who might be a valuable asset to the development of the rural community.
