Description
Steve Goodman’s impact on the critical engagement with sound cannot be understated in its importance, just as its contemporary relevance is without question. The entanglements of political actualities and virtualities, music culture, “sound’s bad vibes” and the affects of weaponized sound have remained constants in Goodman’s practice and constitute pertinent avenues of exploration. In the talk, and following conversation, Steve Goodman and researcher Mikkel Rørbo will thematize the place for temporality at play in Goodman’s practice, and further consider sonics through a wider speculative lens. Following the talk, a 4-channel listening session of selected works from Goodman’s Hyperdub sublabel Flatlines, which specializes in sonic fictions and audio essays, takes place.
