FARCE is the alias of Veronika J. Koenig (*1997), a Vienna-based producer, songwriter, and performer known for her extreme, genre-defying take on pop. Initially rooted in punk and black metal, she pivoted toward electronic production in her late teens - vulnerable, acerbic, and unafraid of excess. As a producer and collaborator, FARCE works across disciplines and genres. Beyond her own records receiving critical acclaim as well as developing a cult fanbase, she’s written and produced for artists like Sophia Blenda, kin dread, Pandora Nox, Alicia Edelweiß or Mavi Phoenix and scored for film, theatre and TV. She also hosts and programs the show Pop Shop on national radio FM4, focusing on capital P Pop music as well as the bustling niches and anything in between. A fixture in Europe’s underground and alternative scenes, FARCE has headlined tours across the EU and UK and performed at The Great Escape, Primavera Sound, Popfest Vienna and beyond. She’s been nominated for and presented with multiple awards, coveted by press nationally and internationally and received airplay via BBC Radio 1, FM4, Deutschlandfunk Kultur, and more. Whether producing club-ready catharsis or deconstructing the architecture of pop itself, FARCE is building an uncompromising body of work that is always focused on unique, authentic expression and finding community through sound. As an artist and producer the positive impact singing and expressing yourself musically has on the mind and body is central to my practice. In these sessions, we will gain a feeling for sound and the way it moves in the body, foster our personal relationships to our vocal chords, and learn a song start to finish that we will then sing together as kind of like a huge band. Musically we’ll be looking at songs that maybe aren’t traditionally sung in a choir context. You won’t need any technical knowledge going into this, both instructions for people who read musical notes and those who don’t will be provided. The only thing you’ll need to bring is a want to sing and be present for these three sessions.
