text

This is a soundscape visualization project about the migration of rooks in Vienna, which were traced and recorded over several days in the peak winter month of January by Donau River.I created an immersive 360-degree video at angewandte's fulldome lab to incorporate my bird-watching experience into a unique crow tracking experience that anyone can experience. The soundscape using multi-channel speakers is composed by the real field recordings based on how crows behave and call scientifically. I used Boid Algorithm and Reaction Diffusion in touchdesigner to create the effect of flock behavior, combined with multi-channel audio in the lab. The position of the flight effect is controlled by the position of the sound tracks in Ableton live, resulting in an real-time immersive experience. When I close my eyes, it is the time to map the world with a sharp sense of hearing. Listen to the soundscape to map the space and time and feel the migration shift. Observe the vibrant nature by listening to sounds, empathize with the emotion in crow vocalization and search for the signs of life every hour, every minute, and every secon.
