Description

At CARPA9, themed Ecological Design and Performance Pedagogies – Sustainable Practices and Interdisciplinary Acts in a Climate-Changed World, the SENSING LIVING SYSTEMS team contributed with a conference paper and a participatory lecture performance. The paper introduced methodological aspects of SENSING LIVING SYSTEMS, focusing on multisensory artistic research and its relevance for ecological performance-making and systems awareness. Drawing on selected performances and scenographic studies, it reflected on how sensory formats - working with smell, sound, touch, and guided imagination - can function as research tools within artistic practice. In addition, Jeanette Müller and Paul Divjak presented the participatory lecture performance Nature After Nature – Multisensory Medley for Systems Awareness. The format combined guided meditation, scent-based elements, soundscapes, tactile encounters, and performative narration. Participants were invited to engage through their senses and reflect on interdependence, ecological fragility, and more-than-human perspectives. The final section included a shared olfactory experience that opened space for discussion and exchange. The participation at CARPA9 created a context for dialogue with an international community of artistic researchers working at the intersection of ecology, performance, and pedagogy, and allowed SENSING LIVING SYSTEMS to position its multisensory approach within these ongoing debates. #SLS #SENSING LIVING SYSTEMS #FWFPEEKProjekt #MUELLER-DIVJAK Jeanette Müller, Paul Divjak, Alexandra Graupner, Anna-Maria Irgang
