Description
This workshop will introduce themes related to Sonic Warfare and current deployments of the politics of frequency, the politics of amplitude, and the generation of ecologies of fear. It will situate these concerns within the contemporary weaponization of sound in military and police domains, for example the sound of drone warfare and the use of LRADs (Long Range Acoustic Devices). We will then critically engage with how artists have responded to the militarisation of sound within their own installations, audio essays and the electronic music fictions, particularly tactics of détournement, technological subversion, affective hacking and resistance, the production of counter evidence and hyperstitional fabulation. The workshop will also involve collective, critical listening sessions and the opportunity for participants to intervene with their own relevant research.
Organized by Weibel Institute for Digital Culture & AG Signale.
