8 May - 28 August 2019 "THROUGH PHENOMENA THEMSELVES: CONTINGENT AGENCIES" at Research Pavilion, Venice Biennial. Each situation is endowed with a specific atmosphere: a significant but non-objectified, unstable and enveloping presence. Contingent Agencies is an artistic research project by Nikolaus Gansterer and Alex Arteaga and invited guests to collaboratively inquire into the agencies
that enable the emergence of this kind of presences. This project aims at developing practices of notation and reflection that allow to understand these agencies and their relationships. The artefacts generated by these practices will be on display at the Research Pavilion until August 28th, 2019. On Friday, May 10th from 5 to 6 pm and on Monday, May 13th from 5 to 6 pm, we will do a public presentation about the project discussing new artefacts and a screening of recent related work including the essay film Reflecting Relational Traces done in collaboration with Khadija von Zinnenburg Carroll and Martin Siewert. Contingent Agencies is a 4 year project funded by the Program for Arts-based Research (PEEK) and will be initiated at the Research Pavilion, in the framework of the research cell Through Phenomena themselves: a framework for the inquiry into artistic and phenomenological research practices, organized by Alex Arteaga. The Research Pavilion can be visited at Sala del Camino, Campo S. Cosmo Giudecca, 621, 30133 Venice, Italy. Open every day 10:00 - 18:00, except Tuesday it is closed. Festive Opening on Wednesday, May 8th from 17:30 with live music.
