The work Your Own Kind Of is a result of the investigation of communication and language, which is processed through the medium of sound.
Various cultural practices, from e.g. pop music, media culture and advertising, serve as allegories. The work consists of a combination of specially created samples and those available online, merged into several condensed scenes.
The approach is intended to thematise the different possibilities of the digital-global world and draws attention to the inseparability of various social issues. By alienating sounds and lyrics that seem generic in parts, the intention is to make it possible to grasp them in other frames and create awareness of the sublime existence. The title hints at this by referencing a song from a viral TikTok meme originally from 1969.
