Scientific bachelor seminar for teacher education, Gender/diversity/queer-specific
Description
The 19th and 20th centuries were shaped by scientific advancements such as the emergence of the disciplines of statistics and psychology. Concepts of the statistical mean and psychological development also gave rise to specific notions of what is considered “normal” and what constitutes a deviation—in terms of gender identity, sexuality, and physical appearance and abilities. This seminar examines representations of the body from the modern era to the present, taking a critical look at the norms that underlie these representations.
