Technopolitics I

Nina Bandi
Institut für Kunst und Gesellschaft, Cross-Disciplinary Strategies
2026W, wissenschaftliches Seminar (SEW), 2.0 ECTS, 1.0 SemStd., LV-Nr. S30487

Beschreibung

This seminar examines "technopolitics" — the entanglement of technical systems with political power — with particular attention to how (neo-)fascist and authoritarian tendencies manifest themselves in current debates around artificial intelligence and digital transformation. On the one hand, this will help us understand the relevance of the concepts of (neo-)fascism and authoritarianism for grasping the present; on the other, it will lead us to critically examine the historical trajectories and lineages typically attributed to the rise of these tendencies.

More information on the readings will follow in the syllabus on the base.

The course will mainly consist of close reading sessions and discussions, both in class and in smaller groups, complemented by other media sources.
