This is a 2 semester course which is co-led by Sophia Rut (researcher) and Johann "MJ" Redl (sound engineer). We will explore the usage of interviews in journalistic as well as research settings, working in groups on  interview projects and own radio broadcasts for Radio Orange (free radio Vienna). We will introduce you to basic audio editing as well as basic scientific methods when it comes to working with interviews. In the second semester of the course we will build audio devices, concentrating on the question of how interviews and acoustic projects can be exhibited as audio installations in a room.  In a field trip to Lobau (National Park Donauauen) in summer semester we will gain experiences with field recordings in the Danubian floodplain forest.

Student groups will produce their own interview project, interview transcript, radio broadcast and audio installation based on recorded interviews
