Beschreibung

This course examines how established principles of rights, freedoms, justice and collective responsibility need to be revisited in relation to environmental, political, and technological transformations. These include recurrent heatwaves, wildfires, floods and environmental degradation, alongside securitisation and algorithmic governance.

Thinking with key texts in political philosophy, ecology, feminist ethics, and STS we will look beyond institutionalised forms of rights and legal protection and explore ethical decision-making in situations where no clear moral compass is available. By taking opposing sides in deliberations on wicked problems, we practice how to evaluate competing claims, negotiate uncertainty and develop situated ethical judgement.

Prüfungsmodalitäten

Your performance will be graded on the basis of your continuous participation and critical input in class, as well as a mock trials, and structured debates of guest lectures.
