Beschreibung
Structural Design A is a run through the principles of structural design, starting with the basics and how they are applied but focusing on how structural systems and structural logic is reflected in architecture and how architecture and structure play together. It is seen as an essential foundation for integrated design and the ability to deploy structure intelligently in architecture.
The course is lecture based and requires the students' active participation. The learning is applied small practical, playful, hands on exercises which will be reviewed ahead of the lectures, and for which students will be working in groups.
Prüfungsmodalitäten
The successful participation in the course will be based on two criteria:
1.) The active participation of the students during the lectures and reviews. For this, physical presence at the dates shown is essential.
2.) The successful completion and presentation of the exercises where the understanding of the principles and concepts of the course will be demonstrated. We will expect a summary document that brings this together to be submitted at the end of the semester.
Anmerkungen
The course is complemented by Structural Design B, which will build on the technical and conceptual understanding acquired in Structural Design A. It is strongly recommended that students take these courses in parallel.
