Beschreibung

This course introduces fundamental principles of sound generation and propagation, enabling participants to analyse and influence acoustic outcomes during the early stages of architectural design. It is intended for students interested in the built environment and its acoustic impact, examining historic and contemporary examples. Emphasis is placed on the interaction between sound, geometry, and materials, including frequency-dependent absorption characteristics and their practical application. Building on this knowledge, students will develop sculptures from a single material with a significant acoustic impact, exploring how material properties and geometry shape the acoustic performance of spatial interventions.

While the course is primarily designed for architecture students, those from other disciplines are welcome to join and will find the content broadly applicable. The teaching language is English.

Prüfungsmodalitäten

To gain the most from the course, students are encouraged to participate actively and present as well as submit the outcomes of assigned tasks.

Anmerkungen
