Description

For this semester, the course will focus on the intersections of art and verbal language, bringing in theoretical, philosophical, practical, and historical insights from white (European and North American) as well as Indigenous, Afrodescendant and non-European artists, thinkers and poets. This approach aims to decentre and decolonise perspectives on language and art, including language-as-image. Students will be required to participate by reading and discussing theoretical texts and producing artworks that reflect the local specificities of language, considering their cultural and linguistic backgrounds. 

The bibliography will be available on the Syllabus distributed at the first meeting and will take into account possible student suggestions.

Examination Modalities

Evaluation will be conducted daily based on the student's participation and the production of relevant artworks.

Comments

It is mandatory for students registering for Die Architektur des Lichtes I to also register for Die Architektur des Lichtes II in the summer semester of 2027 (SS27).

Presence in 75% of the course meetings is mandatory.
