Description
The course ZKF - Conservation and Restoration Practice is the center of the Conservation and Restoration course at the Angewandte. Students work with originals right from the start. In the first two semesters, first-year students spend time in all four subject areas of the course: conservation and restoration of paintings, textiles, objects and stone.
The ZKF is a one-to-one course. The systematic methodical approach to conservation and restoration is taught. Practice is supplemented by targeted theoretical input, practical exercises and self-study. At the end of the semester, a written and photographic documentation of the respective project is written, but also the oral presentation of the results is trained.
Objectives: Learning how to handle objects appropriately (handling), introduction to conservation and restoration practice, as well as written and photographic documentation, oral presentation of the work and argumentation of the individual steps.
The first year of study also serves to determine the subject area to be chosen in the second part of the course (painting, textile, object or stone conservation).
Examination Modalities
- Compulsory attendance, active participation, practice of practical skills, personal initiative
- Written and oral semester report at the end of the semester
