The fibre identification is an important first step in predicting the behavior of textile artifacts under different conditions. Knowing the type of fiber is also useful for planning appropriate conservation measures and/or storage methods/conditions.

Focus:

Theoretical basics of fiber identification using transmitted light microscopy, preparation of permanent preparations, theoretical basics of microchemical reactions used for fibre identification, as well as practical exercise of the detection methods.

Carrying out practical experiments (results achieved, independent work..) will be evaluated.

The course will take place in the lecture hall  at Salzgries 14 / 1st floor and will be held in English.

The maximum number of students is 7.
