Nina Bandi
Institute of Arts and Society, Cross-Disciplinary Strategies
2026S, scientific seminar (SEW), 4.0 ECTS, 2.0 semester hours, course number S05988
Description
This course is a continuation of Digital Democracy : A Contradiction (WS25/26 ; S05824) but can also be attended without having completed the other course before.
Taking as a starting point the assumption that the digital transformation is fundamentally changing our everyday lives as much as the way we may and should imagine and conceptualize the political, this time the focus will be more specifically on AI.
The question at the center of the class will be how AI and the discourse around it (historical and contemporary) shape the way the political landscape of our time can be described, understood, and analyzed.
Besides reading and writing tasks there will also be an applied mini-project in which the students are encouraged to bring in their own questions and ideas.
Examination Modalities
Active participation (including attendance), two short presentations and a written reflection (for further details, see the syllabus on the base).
All the assignments have to be completed within the semester.
Key Words
political theory, political philosophy, digital transformation, algorithmic governance, automation, theory and practice, artifical intelligence
