2026S, Vorlesung und Übungen (VU), 2.0 ECTS, 2.0 SemStd., LV-Nr. S05974
Beschreibung
This course introduces laboratory methods for identifying pigments and binding media in paint layers. It covers sampling strategies and cross-section sample preparation for further analysis. Students examine cross-sections using microscopy to identify paint layer stratigraphy and material characteristics.
The course also introduces microchemical spot tests for the identification of natural binding media. Students learn the theoretical basis of these tests and carry out selected spot tests and histochemical staining methods to qualitatively identify organic binders in paint samples.
Prüfungsmodalitäten
Assessment is based on practical laboratory work (including achieved results and independent work) and a written report.
Anmerkungen
The course can be attended only after completing the lectures "Farbenchemie" and „Binde- und Klebemittel in der Restaurierung - Natürliche Bindemittel“ (passing the exam is not a prerequisite).
The maximum number of students is 8.
The course will take place in the lecture hall and laboratory at Salzgries 14 / 1st floor and will be held in English.
The dates for SS 2026 will be updated soon.
