Description
This seminar explores autotheory as a (trans)feminist practice that operates not through self-representation but through the undoing of the self. Focusing on excessive, experimental, and transgressive writing we examine how contemporary autotheory breaks with identity-based models of queer and feminist theory. Using a broad range of thinkers such as Bataille, Moten, Hartman and Hayward we explore how autotheory is used to bend & break down. Literary texts & artworks could include the likes of Kathy Acker, T. Fleischmann, Sadiya Hartman, Paul B. Preciado, Bhanu Kapil.
Comments
This seminar assumes a good understanding of academic texts written in the English language.
The max number of participants is capped at 22 people, after this a waiting list is implemented.
