This course provides a hands-on introduction to tufting as a contemporary textile and design practice. Students develop tufting-based works at the intersection of yarn, surface, and form.

Based on sketches, typographic references, or individual concepts, students create textile surfaces and relief-like works. By varying yarns, colors, densities, and textures, individual visual and tactile results emerge. Fundamental technical skills such as frame construction and material handling are introduced alongside practical work.

The course is conducted in collaboration with Atelier Fleck, providing professional expertise and workshop support.

The course is held in block format.
Dates will be announced in advance (tba).

Assessment is based on the following criteria:

• Development and realization of an individual design concept

• Artistic and conceptual quality of the tufting-based work

• Engagement and experimental approach during the course

• Responsible handling of workshop spaces, materials, and equipment

• Attendance and active participation

Final submission:
A digital photographic documentation of the final work.

Maximum number of participants: 15 students.
An increase in the number of participants may be considered shortly before the course begins.

The course is aimed at students interested in textile, material-based, and experimental practices. No prior knowledge is required.
