Theory and Practice of Artistic Research 2
Miya Yoshida
Doktoratszentrum, Künstlerisches PhD
2026S, wissenschaftliches Seminar (SEW), 2.0 ECTS, 1.0 SemStd., LV-Nr. S05878
Beschreibung
The course examines the notions of research, knowledge and knowledge-making in the framework of artistic research.
Writing is understood as a vital practice for reflecting on one’s own thinking, artistic processes and practices in the context of PhD in Art Program. It functions both as a method for discovering an individual voice and as means of shaping and articulating thoughts in forms that can be shared, circulated, and publicly engaged. Writing fosters methodological self-awareness, helps to define modes of working, and cultivates sensitivity to the sources one reads, digests, and embodies.
Exhibition or performance is accessible only within their site-specific and durational frameworks and conditions. How can rigorous thinking be articulated beyond pure description of works, in communicable and sharable forms of writing? In what ways might writing practices in artistic research differ from those of other doctoral programs in the humanities?
In continuation of Theory and Practice of Artistic Research 1, the course addresses the theme of writing through a workshop, a lecture and a series of seminars. By engaging with these questions and reflecting on their own practices, PhD candidates are expected to further develop their individual voices, methodologies, and vocabularies in writing, building on the texts produced in the previous course.
Workshop and lecture will take place on site only. Further details will be announced shortly.
Prüfungsmodalitäten
