The seminar “Video-Related Media” continues the work begun in the first semester and deepens the engagement with video art through analysis, discussion, and individual artistic practice. It is developed in collaboration with the Ursula Blickle Video Archive.

The focus of the seminar is the development of a single-channel moving image work, which will be presented in the summer as part of a public screening at the Blickle Kino.

The starting point can be a position researched in the archive: participants are invited to select a work from the archive and enter into a productive dialogue with it through re-enactment, quotation, formal reference, or further development. Alternatively, an independent moving image work can be developed.

The production process is accompanied by regular peer feedback, one-on-one discussions, and joint sessions. In these sessions, we jointly view contemporary positions in video art, observe closely, contextualize, discuss, and develop critical perspectives.

In collaboration with the archive, guest artists are invited to give insights into their working methods and create opportunities for exchange.

• Regular attendance (minimum 80%); absences are only excused with prior notification
• Short practical assignments between sessions
• Development and completion of an artistic video work

The number of participants is limited to 15. The seminar can be held in German and English.
