Content of the workshops:

We all have been influenced by "isms" throughout our lives. Consequently another person´s behavior might trigger a negative feeling or response in us reflecting learned patterns of stereotypical thinking. At the same time most people have at some time in their lives experiences some form of oppression or have been a member of an "outsider goup ". Therefor each of us has the ability to understand the experience of being an "other".

We have a way to "unlearn" prejudice instead of keeping the bias system intact through the denial of stereotypical thinking, speaking and acting.

Research questions for the lecture „deconstructing systemic prejudices“

-Which patterns of dicrimination do you find in the society (of your country of origin, in Austria, at university)?

-Which of these patterns do resonate with you on a personal level?

-Where do you see components of these patterns in yourself?

-Where do you see your impact in changes in the society as well as in your own thinking and behaviour (learned through societal structures and personal interactions)
