Description
This seminar offers a hands-on introduction to the digital conservation, restoration, and documentation of software-based herritage. Using concrete examples, we will explore the forensic transfer, analysis, and archiving of information stored on historical data carriers from the 1980s, such as floppy disks, as well as internet-based and computer-based artworks from the 1990s. Obsolete technologies will be reconstructed in virtual environments using emulation and virtualization to restore the functionality. The seminar also focuses on digital management and documentation of both the software-based objects and the associated technical dependencies.
