Let's Do Drama, Baby!

Our writing workshop is taking place this year in cooperation with the Ott Acting School and the Volkstheater Vienna. In the first session, we'll work together on your texts, text ideas, sketches, plays, etc. Each participant needs a piece they'd like to work on, which we'll discuss and use to develop our dramaturgical/writing skills. I'm also considering creating a short play format.

In the second session in June, we'll develop staged readings/performances/lectures from these texts, in cooperation with the Ott Acting School and its students. These formats will be presented on the last day in the Rote Bar at the Volkstheater Vienna in staged formats designed by the students themselves—I'll, of course, be available for tips, ideas, and support.

Besides your own texts, the only requirement for the seminar is a desire to experiment with them. It is important to me to put the texts into practical context, to give students the opportunity to work with actors, to get to know their practice and questions, to create complicity, ideally between actors and authors, and/or to foster a desire for practical work between text and bodies.

Participation in the seminar, contributing your own texts, and presenting these texts based on your own ideas. The goal is a presentation of approximately 10-15 minutes per person.

For the first session, please bring the texts you want to work with; you can bring several. We will then use your ideas and texts to determine the specifics of the seminar. I will bring theoretical texts, but the focus will be on your texts, your questions about them, and the practical/dramatic exploration of them.
