In Western educational institutions, writing is often viewed as an activity of the mind that we either master or don't. In this course, however, we approach (academic) writing as a learnable craft and bodily practice.
We explore tools for developing research questions, tables of contents, and writing plans, for reading more purposefully, for establishing writing routines, and for getting into writing with joy. With the help of freewriting techniques, we learn to write more from our bodies, strengthen our own voice, and dare to put "shitty first drafts" on paper.
In addition to inputs and exercises on writing and reading didactics, there will be time to work on our own writing projects within the framework of the course.
No prior knowledge is required. Instructional language: English
Course objectives:
Finding joy in (academic) reading and writing, organizing writing groups, and advancing work on your own writing projects.
Teaching and learning methods:
Input on writing and reading techniques, exchange on body practices, and individual work on current writing projects.
Prüfungsmodalitäten
Regular attendance, participation, working on your own writing project
Anmerkungen
Dates will be announced in January 2026. We will meet 3 times for 4 hours (presumably in March, May and June, most likely on Friday afternoons)
