The course supervising the diploma booklets is conceived as a design-led exploration informed by Susan Sontag’s Notes on “Camp”. The essay serves less as a stylistic formula to be applied than as a reference framework for critically reflecting on questions of exaggeration, artificiality, and stylistic intensification.

At its core is the task of framing, translating, and condensing the respective diploma projects into the form of booklets. Students engage with the fine line between being “weird enough to be cool” and mere spectacle or gratuitous effect. The aim is to develop a sensitive awareness of contemporary aesthetics, ambivalence, and irony—and to carry this sensibility through into the typographic, visual, and editorial design of their booklets.

• Active participation in discussions, feedback sessions, and critiques

• Attendance as well as continuous, independent work structured around defined milestones

• Development of a booklet concept

• Creation of a typographic programme (template) to be used as the basis for content development starting in the middle of the semester
