Institute of Fine Arts and Media Art, Drawing and Printmaking
2026S, Lecture with Practical Exercises (VU), 2.0 ECTS, 2.0 semester hours, course number S05227
Description
This printing process is traditionally done on limestone or on aluminium plate (pre-sensitized plate).
The course content will be largely free.
The goal is to expand the various techniques, knowledge and possibilities of lithography and in particular to improve the printing technique.
This requires a lot of time, patience and a very thorough handling of materials, press and gadget.
In addition, each course participant must have their own goals and a personal project.
E.g. the quality of thorough editions. Motifs and colors layering. Experimenting with different drawing techniques. Combinations with other printing techniques. Series with unique prints. Bookprojekt. Works for exhibitions.
Results from a variety of techniques are desired, and the free combination of ideas and printing techniques will be an integral part of the course.
Please bear in mind that this course requires patience and sufficient time, as well as plenty of practice. This is because many manual and chemical processes are necessary to achieve a result.
Examination Modalities
Independent realization of an own project.
Presentation of results at the end of the semester.
