Description
Morphology of the visual arts (S05192, VU, 2026 S)
Protagonists in architecture, sculpture, painting, drawing, graphics, photography, new media and arts and crafts have developed their art using personal design principles - between chaos and symmetry - from basic forms, archetypes, patterns, grids, structures and often invisible systems of proportion.
The focus of this course is on learning, recognizing, naming and applying, as well as personally transforming these basic forms and known, preserved structural systems!
Instead of viewing the achievements of design theory in perspective, as an end point, a "prospective" (future-oriented) perspective is taught: analogous, parametric thinking in terms of drawing. Every form, every structure has the potential to be transformed.
Disciplines such as biology, geometry, music and the visual arts inspire us, always on the lookout for exciting forms, structures, form systems, rhythms and patterns in order to develop ideas and content artistically in a fundamental and knowledgeable way.
The course is designed to be interactive with theoretical and visual content as well as practical drawing exercises in which what has been learned is put to the test.
