Description

Sculptural Techniques, Casting Techniques, and Carving 1/2

Supervised three-dimensional work in the casting workshop at Paulusplatz. Recommended for sculpture production, prototype development, or model making.

In this course, I offer the opportunity to learn sculptural techniques such as modeling, casting techniques, and wood carving. Participants can take part in group projects or develop and realize their own projects independently with my support.

We aim to formulate ideas and translate these visions into form and material. The goal is to develop a better understanding and a personal approach to various techniques and working methods. Starting from ideas, draft sketches, detailed drawings, or other templates, we try to create a resonance with these visions. Obstacles such as lack of craftsmanship, experience, or underdeveloped concepts are overlooked in favor of a process- and motivation-oriented approach.

Various types of three-dimensional production can be discussed and explored. From casting self-modeled objects to creating complex silicone molds for larger edition series, a wide range of techniques can be applied.

The beginner course takes place weekly in the morning. Basic techniques are tested together through simple small-scale projects. In the advanced course in the afternoon, individual projects can be discussed and realized. Since many techniques are time-consuming, it is advantageous to attend both courses in one semester—that is, to spend the whole day in the workshop. Of course, attending only in the morning or afternoon is also possible.
