Photographic Narration in Publication Formats (Print and Digital / Zine and Web)

This course explores strategies and working processes through which photographic projects can be given a narrative publication format. 

Through the analysis and discussion of selected examples, both traditional print formats—such as books and zines—and digital publication formats, including websites, blogs, and slide posts, are examined.

The participants’ photographic projects serve as the point of departure and are developed over the course of the seminar into an appropriate publication format.

Structured peer-feedback processes support participants in elaborating suitable narrative concepts for their own work.

The course addresses, among other topics, the following areas:

• Developmental steps toward an individual publication (image editing, sequencing, text, layout, and typography)

• Selection of appropriate materials as well as printing and production techniques

• Presentation, feedback, and critical discussion of the participants’ own projects

Course immanent, 80% attendance, absence only excused
