The course offers an in-depth exploration of textile screen printing and is aimed at students working on individual, project based concepts. The workshop is open for continuous use throughout the semester to develop and implement individual concepts in a practical way.

In individual instruction, basic and advanced techniques of textile screen printing are taught. The focus is on the professional preparation of analog and digital templates, their creative adaptation, and the implementation in the screen printing process. Both classical repeat patterns (rapport)  and the development of unique artworks on textiles or other suitable substrates are possible and are individually supervised.

In addition to the classic screen printing process, the application of the medium can be explored in a free artistic context. Students can also explore alternative printing methods with unexposed screens, paper stencils, or other stencil materials and develop their own image compositions or designs beyond conventional pattern repetitions. The goal is to deepen both technical skills and personal artistic expression in the medium of screen printing.

For those who have no experience with screen printing or have no concrete ideas, we recommend signing up for our "REPEAT OF A PATTERN" course with Stephanie Klaura to gain inspiration and immerse yourself in the world of screen printing in our department.

To successfully complete the course and receive ECTS credits, the following requirements must be fulfilled:

a.) The course fee/material costs must be paid in full.
b.) A digital project documentation must be submitted at the end of the semester:

• 1 to max. 4 photos of your final project
• combined in a single PDF, including:

• Project title
• Short project description

Assessment is based on the artistic adaptation of the templates, the creative and professional implementation in the screen printing process and your personal commitment. We attach great importance to cleanliness and the professional, careful handling of our devices and tools.

Participation requires a mandatory introductory meeting to discuss the scope of your project, design drafts, and next steps.

The course is held daily from 10:00 AM during the semester (excluding lecture-free periods) at the Department of Textile Technology, Salzgries 14.
