Description
The goal of this intensive, highly interactive course is to help students present their ideas more effectvely in a variety of settings and for different objectives. The workshop-style nature of this course allows students not only to become acquainted with various communication theories and instruments, but, more importantly, to practice them so that they can present in English more confidently and effectively in the future. The following topics are discussed, examined, and practiced:
1. Effective use of the 3 core elements of a presentation: the visual (body language and eye contact), the verbal (content and structure), and the vocal (tone).
2. Conveying ideas and visions convincingly and be able to motivate the target audience to take a specific action.
3. The use of suitable presentation structures for "Persuasive" and "Informative" presentations.
4. Various issues of application such as: dealing with stage fright, fielding Q&A sessions, using media (Power Point, Flip Charts, etc.).
Examination Modalities
Given the interactive nature of this course, part of the grade is based on active participation in discussions and exercises. A final presentation that ties all the elements of effective presentations forms the other part of the grade.
