We will examine, both theoretically and practically, the intersections of transmedia performance art and the performative aspects of everyday life, blurring the boundaries between life and art, utilising various media, including video, social platforms, installation, and live action, to reframe ordinary behaviours as performative acts. Drawing upon theories from performance studies, media studies, postcolonial studies, cultural studies, gender studies, and philosophy, we will investigate how identity, power, and presence are constructed and disseminated through daily rituals, gestures, and interactions across diverse platforms. Particular emphasis will be placed on artistic practices originating from the Global South, highlighting performance strategies rooted in local traditions, resistance movements, and postcolonial critique, and examining how these methods challenge dominant narratives and aesthetic standards within the global art scene. Students will also engage in creative practice, developing original performance-based works that incorporate transmedia methodologies. Projects may include scripting social media performances, documenting embodied experiences, or staging interventions in public or digital spaces. Experimentation, challenging approaches, and critical reflection are encouraged.
